Whenever we visit Baguio, we usually stay with Baguio Country Club. We love it there but the rooms have always been a little outdated. So when we found out that they just finished their renovations, we immediately booked a trip back to see!
Here’s a review of the newly renovated rooms at Baguio Country Club and also a little bit about how our overall experience went.
Baguio Country Club
Baguio Country Club has a history that goes all the way back to 1905! As of the writing of this article, it’s the only 5-star hotel in Baguio.
Though we’ve stayed here before, it was gonna be our first time with our baby, Dylan! We were also traveling together with my brothers. We decided to book 3 separate rooms, with the 2 rooms being connected (for us!)
Family Suite #1:
We booked 2 family suites; one for my brothers and one for our family. This is the first one, where my brothers stayed.
It has 1 main bedroom, a living area, a small dining area, 2 bathrooms (one with a shower & tub and the other without.)
I love the design of the newly renovated rooms; clean, simple, modern and warm!
The living area was separated from the bedroom with a door, which is convenient! This means, one can hang out at this area while another sleeps. Hehe.
This is the mini dining area right in front of the entrance. The door on the right is the second bathroom (without bath)
Family Suite #2:
For our family, we booked a family suite that connects to a deluxe room. From this photo, you can see the main bedroom, living area and all the way at the back, the deluxe room.
It also has a main bedroom, a living area, a small dining area and 2 bathrooms (one with a shower & tub and one without.)
It was so nice to have a common area for the family to share. When it wasn’t time to sleep or nap, we all hung out here. My brothers also came to play games with Luke. Haha.
My favorite part of the room is the desk where I got to work uninterrupted while the baby naps and the little boy was busy playing. Hehe.
I recommend getting a suite if you’re traveling with younger kids. The extra space is really helpful.
This is the view from the balcony of our living room. Pretty nice! Weather was cloudy and rainy when we visited but that’s okay. It only meant that we were able to enjoy our rooms more hehe.
Deluxe: Connecting Room
This is the Deluxe Room, which connects to the Family Suite. I stayed here with Dylan and Yaya. Dylan slept at a playpen (not provided by the hotel; we brought our own)
The bathroom at the deluxe room is smaller than the bathroom at the suite.
For comparison: The Old Rooms
This is a photo I took 2 years ago of our family suite. It has a very different vibe, don’t you think?
Dining at the Cotterman / Verandah
This is the main restaurant at Baguio Country Club. It’s also the place where you have your breakfast buffet in the morning.
They have a generous spread with different varieties of food. Baguio Country Club is known for their pastries, especially their raisin bread (!) and you get to try them here during breakfast!
We always book a table outside, at the verandah, so we could enjoy the bright sunlight and the cool air. Aaahh… just thinking about this place brings happy memories.
Hamada: Japanese Restaurant
We always make it a point to have one dinner at Hamada, Baguio Country Club’s Japanese restaurant. The food is really good!
Definitely get the teppanyaki service where the chefs will cook your meal in front of you, complete with acrobatic tricks! 😉 Always a hit with the kids!
Baguio Country Club Christmas Village 2019
If you’re planning to visit during Christmas, you may want to consider dropping by the Baguio Country Club Christmas Village. There’s a minimal entrance fee. Yup, even if you’re a guest staying at BCC.
The theme this year is fantasy. They had Game of Thrones and Avengers themed decor in place.
And the highlight of the Christmas village is the fake snow! Of course, a hit with the kids but not so much for me (haha!) because surprise; it’s made from soap!
Be careful not to slip as the floor gets super slippery after! Also, bring an umbrella! Lesson learned from experience. Haha!
Luke was so happy to have his photo taken with the Avengers. Hahaha.
Overall, is it worth visiting? If you’re with young kids, maybe. To be honest, it’s not to my taste so I’d recommend skipping if the kids aren’t bugging you to visit!
Other Activities:
There are quite a number of things you can do around Baguio Country Club. However, we went on a weekday (and a rainy one at that too.) So some of the attractions we were hoping to try like the Nerf area and archery, were closed.
Luke was a little bummed he didn’t get to try the Nerf but he eventually settled with playing a round of mini golf with my brothers. I think that’s okay though. All the more reason to go back again next Christmas! 😉
