Do you have a dinosaur obsessed kid? I do! And because of that, we’ve done quite a number of dinosaur-related activities.
Sharing with you guys some ideas for fun dinosaur activities that your little paleontologist would surely enjoy!
1. Archaeological Dig at Home
What you need:
- Sand (Kinetic sand will be perfect)
- Box / Sand box / Sand table
- Small dinosaur figures: Got ours from @thecrafterteacher
- Brush and digging tools
How:
- Bury all the small dinosaur
- Let your child look for the items using the digging tools
- TIP: Include other fun objects to discover like small gems, trinkets and play jewelry. Or maybe even some fossils (see next activity!)
2. Salt Dough Fossils
What you need:
- 1/2 cup Salt
- 2.5 cups All-Purpose Flour
- 1 cup Water
- Small dinosaur figures: Used the same ones from @thecrafterteacher
How:
- Add all ingredients into a bowl and mix.
- Knead with your hands until you get it feels like clay 😀
- Since this is a homemade recipe, please try to adjust water, flour and salt amounts until you get it just right. Hehe. Tip: Add more flour if it gets too sticky.
- Make round balls and flatten them a bit.
- Press the dinosaur toys (kids love this part!)
- Put them all on a cookie tray and bake! We had ours at 350 degrees for 45 minutes following a recipe on Pinterest.
3. Dinosaur Ice Excavation
What you need:
- A container that will fit the dinosaurs (I used a baby food plastic container)
- Dinosaur toys
- Water
- “Excavating tools” (I just used chopsticks hehe.)
How:
- Put the dinosaur in the container
- Fill it with water
- Freeze!
- Take it out and let your kid excavate the ice block using his tools.
4. Dinosaur Terrarium
What you need:
- A glass jar
- Dinosaur toys
- Rocks, sand and/or pebbles
- Leaves and plants
How:
- Put all the items inside and decorate as you please!
