We joined our first ever walkathon and as you can tell from the photos, we had an amazing time!
It was actually also FitFlop’s first ever walkathon event. I hope it won’t be the last though, because we are definitely looking forward to the next one already! Here’s how this year’s FitFlop Urban Walkathon went!
FitFlop Urban Walkathon
The FitFlop Urban Walkathon was held last March 24, 2019 for the benefit of the ICanServe Foundation at SM by the Bay.
Note that it was a walkathon, not a marathon! We didn’t have to run (YAY, just kidding hehehe) What’s fun about this walkathon was that FitFlop had designated areas for various activities. There were inflatables, foam cannons and more! You’ll see later.
Mor was out of the country at that time so Luke and I went there with our good friends Kim, Mike and my brother Charles (not in this photo, but you’ll see him in the photos later!)
Luke was so excited; it’s his first time to experience something like this!
Surprise! My cousin, Janeena, was also the host! Luke loves Auntie Janeena and was thrilled to see her again! Here they were behind-the-scenes “practicing” Haha.
Ready with my new kicks! Of course, it’s FitFlop!
Warm Up!
Before the walkathon began, we had to do warm up dances and stretches! Was surprised to see that Luke was so game. His face may not look like he was excited but his actions tell otherwise! :p
Foam Party!!
And we’re off! There was no escaping them! Foam cannons greeted you as you entered and everybody had to pass this way, which means we all got soaked with bubbles! FUN!!!
Luke didn’t know if he was scared or excited (or probably both) and he ended up screaming and screaming again and again! He also kept running back and forth the area. I was so surprised because this was so uncharacteristically him. Haha!
From the looks of it though, it’s safe to say he was more happy than scared. 😉
Sand Crawl
A little further on, there was a sand crawl. My brother, Charles raced with Luke and got themselves covered in sand! But of course, Luke being Luke, he wouldn’t let you race him just once. You had to race with him 10000x! My poor brother. Haha.
I may also have encouraged him to do it again and again just so I could get the perfect shots…. Shh…
3D Art
And just for fun, there were around 2 different 3D art installations around the track. Cute!
Taking a Break!
Since the race was “by the bay.” we were surrounded with beautiful views. Here we are taking a break (for both a rest and a photo stop hehe)
I may have had a million things to do that day, but setting aside that afternoon to spend quality time with Luke was something I do not regret at all!
Ready to walk back for the stop he looked forward to the most: the inflatable slide!
Inflatable Slide
For our final stop, Luke joined my brother and his girlfriend Irene up the inflatable slide! People packed here like sardines (EEP!) and I hesitated at first to let him go on it for fear that he might get stepped on! But Luke begged me to let him go. Huuu, I cannot resist his puppy eyes.
Nevermind if he gets squished, I guess! Hehehe. 😀
Okay, so in the end, I was happy I let him go. Just look at that pure joy on his face!
Finishing the “Race”
Time to do our victory dance! Luke receives his finisher’s medal as we cross the finish line. Hooray!
It was Luke’s first time to receive a medal of any sort. At first, he even asked me what it’s for. Oops. One of those things he hasn’t been able to experience (prior to this) since he’s homeschooled. Haha.
We finished the race by sunset and it was the perfect ending to a wonderful afternoon. Unbelievably tired after but we came home with very happy hearts…. right after we refuelled with food, of course! 😉
Can’t wait to do this again next year!
