Fun Things to Do in Bangkok: Part 2 (Thailand)

I haven’t been in Bangkok for over 20 years, which is why it’s amusing to think that in the past four months alone, I have gone back twice!

On my second visit this year, I spent most of the 5 days traveling alone during the day (we are here because I sent my son was in a STEM camp; a story for another day) Here are some of my favorite places and things that I did in Bangkok.

(By the way, you can check out what we did 4 months ago on this blog post.)

1. Get your art fix and go art hopping

Traveling alone has its perks and one of that is being able to spend whole mornings in museums and galleries without worrying if anyone was getting bored. 😉 Here are some of my favorite places:

2. Have a fancy croissant at Cafe Dior

You need to book ahead for this one (book here) but it was worth visiting (and this coming from a girlie not very much into designer brands!) The beautiful architecture of the Dior Gold House is a sight to behold and the interiors of the cafe is a true work of art!

Food was overpriced, as expected, but it was all so pretty to look at. As someone who loves pretty things, I LOVED Cafe Dior and would recommend visiting.

3. Send a postcard from the Thai Post Office

Stumbled upon this place by accident. I was walking from Central: The Original Store to Warehouse 30 when I walked by the post office. It was scorching I really needed a breather so I went in solely for the purpose of enjoying the air conditioning.

But then I asked how much it was to send postcards. And upon finding out that postcards were only 10 baht each and that I could send one anywhere in the world for only 50 baht, I quickly grabbed and sent a couple of postcards to friends from the other side of the world! Fun!

4. Immerse yourself in The Little Prince Universe

This one I did with my son, who enjoyed it more than I thought he would! He declares that it’s one of his top favorite things that we did during this trip. It’s an immersive experience based on the book; you can hit baobabs, ride on a red plane, visit a rose room and more. As Little Prince was one of my favorite books growing up, I had a lot of fun “going back” to some of my favorite parts of the book and sharing the experience with my son.

Not really a pro tip but it would be great to make the kids read the book before your visit so they get all the references! You can visit the exhibit at Icon Siam til May 11, 2025.

5. Learn about Thainess at The Museum of Siam

If you were traveling with me, of course we are visiting one or two or twenty museums. The Museum of Siam in particular deserves a spot in this list because I learned so much and enjoyed the experience. There were a lot of interactive displays and you learn so much as you go around the different rooms especially since each ticket includes an easy to use audio guide.

I left with such a huge longing for a similar museum to open in Manila. Hopefully soon!

6. Ojo Bangkok

My favorite dining experience in Bangkok so far. I had the lunch set menu and it was exceptional. The view was not so shabby either, as you can see! Gorgeous interiors and if you’re not afraid of heights, you get access to the Mahanakhon Sky Walk after your meal (I believe there’s a minimum total but you have to confirm how much)

BONUS: Might not be everyone’s cup of tea but my 10 year old certainly had a blast hahaha. You can try visiting Madame Tussauds Bangkok if you have time to kill. It was more interactive than I expected (especially the sports section) and we had a lot of giggles as we went around the exhibit. (Use my Klook code: SHEENALOVESSUNSETSKLOOK to get a discount)

During my stay, I used an e-sim called SAILY to stay connected. Special mention because we were there during the 7.7 magnitude earthquake and I was not with my son the entire time BUT I was able to keep in touch the entire 4 hours we were apart after the earthquake thanks to Saily!!! I swear, I was so relieved that the lines were not down and I was still connected even after the roads got blocked and all the chaos.

Saily has never failed me (I’ve used it for around 3-4 trips already!). You can download the app here and use my Saily affiliate code SHEENA8879 to get a discount of $3 off!
