Is Subscribing to Learning Time Worth It?

Learning Time 6-min

There are so many new baby products and services that were not available when we had our first-born, Luke, 4 years ago. Learning Time is one of them. So with Dylan, I really wanted to try it and see if it lives up to the hype!

We started using Learning Time when Dylan turned 4 months. Find out what we think about it and decide for yourself if it’s worth the subscription!

What is Learning Time?

Learning Time 1-min

Learning Time is an educational subscription service that provides teaching material, instructional videos and toys. The program is available for babies 4 months – 24 months old.

Basically, you get a box each month containing 4-8 specially curated toys that fit your baby’s age. Then, you download the app, which will serve as your guide on how to use the materials provided.

What Intrigued Me About Learning Time

If you’ve been following our journey, you’ll know that I’m currently on the road to minimalism and that I’ve been curating almost everything in our household; that includes my children’s things. I have sold a LOT of Luke’s toys and books that I feel are either not made of good quality materials OR have no great educational value.

Learning Time promises to address those 2 particular concerns by providing us only with age-appropriate educational materials and making sure that each item is well-made.

Carefully Curated Toys

To be honest, I was a little apprehensive with the idea of Learning Time at the very beginning because the subscription does not come cheap. But when I opened my first box and saw the toys that were included, my first thought was: “Okay, now I get it!

These are not just some of those cheap toys you can get at the department store. In fact, as I found out, each toy inside the box has been tested and designed to promote infant and toddler development.

Also, the toys inside each Learning Time box are very simple, and I like that. They are very straight to the point. There’s a puppet, a rattle and a crinkly mat. There’s a mirror, a hat and a soft block. They only stick with the basics and only with what is essential.

There are so many baby toys out in the market, with all the bells and whistles. But let’s get real; you don’t need a lot to keep your baby entertained! You just need a few good basic ones and you’re set.

That’s what our Learning Time toys have been to us. I don’t find the need to buy more toys for Dylan because we have all that we need from the boxes.

The Learning Time App

You will be given access to The Learning Time App once you subscribe. There are instructional videos in the app for the parents (Note: The app is NOT for the babies,) where you will be guided on how to best use the materials provided in your box.

Personal comments about the app:

  • Very easy to use: The graphics are clean and neat; not confusing at all.
  • Videos are short: I love that each video lasts only for roughly a minute. I don’t have the patience to go through very long videos! Hehe.
  • They suggest other activities that are age appropriate: Not just limited to the materials in the box

What I Personally Love About Learning Time

Learning Time 3-min

Subscribing to Learning Time is something I’m very happy I was able to do with my second baby, Dylan. I can only wish we had this with Luke! Personally, I believe that it is worth trying it out for these 3 reasons:

  1. Everything is prepared for the teacher: The instructions are give in the app and the materials are provided for you in the box. If you’re a busy mom like me, this is very convenient! This is also convenient if you have other people taking care of your baby. You can have them watch the videos and they can easily implement the lessons with your baby. No wasted time even if they’re with yaya or their grandparents!
  2. You don’t have to get other toys: As I’ve said, each box already contains the essential toys you’ll need for your baby; no need to go and look further. Plus, you’re assured that you’re getting really good quality toys that are perfect for your baby’s current development.
  3. It encourages one-on-one bonding: I love how the activities all encourage interaction between the baby and the teacher; whether it be the parent, guardian or even sibling. I’ve done Learning Time with Dylan and so have Luke, my husband and even our yaya!

As you can see, even Luke enjoys being Dylan’s #BestFirstTeacher and I do too. We’re subscribed til’ Dylan turns 1 year old and I can’t wait to open the boxes and work on the activities with him!

I am convinced with this mommy. We don’t have to buy a toy that has whistle o bells etc. Just a basic toy but with a lot of learnings.
Thankyou Mommy Sheena For sharing this. :)
