Fun Things to Do In Macau with Kids

Visitors usually just spend a day in Macau (a Hong Kong sidetrip) but if your kids have never been, you might wanna stay a bit longer! Here are some of the fun things we did in Macau with the kids.

Spend a Day at the Galaxy Hotel Resort Deck

This was actually not part of our original plan. But we later found out that our hotel booking with Andaz Macau included access to their main hotel’s resort deck! A welcome surprise we decided to take advantage of so we spent an entire morning here. The kids had a blast!

There was a wave pool, huge slides, a lazy river, a splash area and (an artificial) beach. You can easily spend an entire day here.

*BONUS: Our hotel booking also included a 2 hour access to the Galaxy Kids indoor play area (also a surprise for us, we didn’t know!) It’s located on the same floor as the resort deck. You can ask when you go.

Visit the Grand Prix Museum

As you might have noticed by now, my F1 crazy boys try to visit as many F1 themed places whenever we travel; whether’s it’s visiting race tracks, attending a Ferrari event in Abu Dhabi, or visiting F1 Arcade in London, it doesn’t matter as long as it’s F1 related. So this was a no-brainer!

But even if you are not big racing fans, it’s still a nice place to visit because of all the interactive exhibits. There are simulators, a reaction time game, fun photo spots and more!

There’s even a Lego area where kids can build their own race car (they can follow a pattern or make their own design) and race it down a ramp to see which one is fastest.

Watch the Changing of the Guards at The Londoner

A fun free show to watch as you explore The Londoner (also a good way to spend time in Macau with kids!)

Check out their website for the updated schedules. But when we went, it was closed on Mondays and the shows were on at 7:30pm and 9:30pm on other days.

While you’re at it, don’t forget to explore The Londoner. They have lots of fun photo spots around the hotel.

Try New Food at Taipa Food Street

If you don’t mind the heat and humidity and wanna try some yummy food, visit Taipa Food Street!

There are some Michelin recommended stalls here which are worth the visit. I particularly enjoyed the almond cookies at Pastelaria Fong Kei. And of course, my kids had fun trying out all the different treats and free taste goodies haha.

Have a Scrumptious Portuguese Meal (and/or Egg Tarts!)

And last but not least, is you have to try their Portuguese cuisine! Because Macau used to be a Portuguese colony, there are a lot of influences around the city; from their architecture to cuisine.

We dined at A Lorcha also as recommended by the Michelin guide and it did not disappoint! You have to try their seafood rice for sure (seen in photo!) The kids devoured the food in record speed. 😉

Don’t forget to try the egg tarts as well. We lined up for Lord’s Stows inside The Venetian but there’s also a stall at Taipa Food Street.
