Luke’s Marvel Avengers Headquarters: A Modern, Superhero, Kids Bedroom

What a difference a year can make. One day, he’s obsessed with Lightning McQueen. And the next, it’s all about The Avengers!

And because all he could talk about was Hawkeye, Scarlet Witch and Captain America, I decided to change his Lightning McQueen bedroom into a superhero headquarters!

I considered making it all a surprise but we decided to let him be part of the whole process instead. And I’m so glad we did it that way because he had a lot of creative input on his space! He was part of choosing a lot of the accessories and helped in most of the installation.

So, are you ready? Avengers… assemble!

Main Space: Bedroom

If you’re familiar with the look of his Lightning McQueen bedroom, you’ll notice that I simply changed all the Cars artworks into Marvel/Avengers themed ones. The Route 66 sign was changed to the Avengers logo and the Rusteze logo into the S.H.I.E.L.D. icon.

I retained all the frames and just changed the prints.

One major thing we opted not to change though was his customized car bed. I have no plans of getting him a new bed when his old one is still good as new. So now, it is officially the Avengers Quinjet (… just use your imagination!)

There are 2 beds in Luke’s room. The car bed (Avengers Quinjet, I say!) is where he sleeps. And then there’s the full-sized bed with a pull-out trundle.

You can just imagine what wonderful jumping pads two beds make (or is that three, since there’s a pull-out,) right?

Toys and Books Area

When Luke was little, I used to worry that he didn’t do a lot of imaginative play. Turns out, all he needed were some superhero pajamas and a couple of masks! Haha.

Now, we have a whole collection of superhero masks and I thought it was best to incorporate them as part of the decor. I placed them on hooks though so it’s still easy for Luke to get anytime he wants to play.

This frame has always had a Bible verse poster and so, I tried to look for the most superhero-themed Bible verse that I could find. What do you think?

Well, it’s now one of Luke’s favorite verses! Haha.

1-up’ed his chore cards as well by giving it the headline “Daily Mission” (complete with Hawkeye’s logo: his favorite!)

And in case you were wondering, HQ means The Masters Room. I told him the Avengers HQ was his room, not our room and so it wouldn’t make sense. But he insisted that he wanted to put that at the end of his mission. And so, there it is.

Reminder to self: Sometimes, things with kids don’t have to make sense all the time. 😀

And it’s not a Marvel Avengers Room without Marvel Avengers accessories!

And where best to get them but at Miniso, especially because they recently collaborated with Marvel for a whole line up of absolutely adorable items! I mean, come on; take a look at that Captain America wet wipes and Marvel storage box!

We got a bunch of stuff from the Marvel x Miniso collection and you’ll see more from it below.

Mini Play Area

There’s a section in Luke’s room that has always been problematic and it’s the empty area under his air conditioning. We finally came up with the perfect solution and turned it into a mini play area!

We placed the Bonjour Baby Ball Pit and a Toddler Trike for both boys to enjoy (because of course, the little one gets to play in his big brother’s bedroom too!)

For the wall art, I printed the different logos of his favorite characters. Luke helped cut and stick them, of course! 😉

Study Area

Luke’s room has a pretty sizeable study area, complete with a desk, shelves and built-in drawers. It was like this already when we moved in so we had to make the space work for our needs.

This used to be his changing area when he was a baby but it has now evolved as his “catch-all desk.” We don’t study here because we do that in our Homeschool Room instead.

The shelves are the perfect place to display his Avengers toys and books.

You wouldn’t believe how many Avengers books we have because he gets them as gifts from friends and relatives. Notice the cute Thor placemat? Also from Miniso (and to think; you have yet to see majority of our Marvel x Miniso collection!)

Keeping the room neat and orderly is of utmost importance for me especially since I’m striving to achieve my own version of minimalism.

So, recently, I got these sturdy pull-out drawers from Cofta where I store Luke’s outgrown clothes. All sorted and labelled accordingly. Goodbye, bulky plastic boxes!

Needless to say, they are all folded vertically, Marie Kondo style. 😉 #KonmariWin Haha!

These “Do-All” modular stackable drawers from Cofta are available at Ace Hardware, True Value, Dimensione and the Nexor Building Showroom

Closet

And because we’re also trying to teach Luke how to tidy on his own, I thought a little encouragement from Spiderman and Captain America might help (also from Miniso!)

I also made sure to label each drawer so there’s no excuse not to know where to put his things!

Adorable hooks from… you guessed it!

Bathroom

And this is where Luke went crazy! He wanted the entire Marvel x Miniso bathroom collection, and I don’t blame him. I think they are super adorable and so tastefully designed!

He has a Captain America set as well (hand towels and bath mat,) which he uses when the Thor set is in the laundry.

Iron Man loofah (because, why not,) a brush and even an Avengers weighing scale. Ayayay. My son would eat and drink Avengers if he could. Haha.

I know I laugh at his obsession but I love that he gets encouraged to complete his bathtime routine because of all his Avengers items.

A Room to Grow Up In

Because his room has undergone 3 themed renovations (small-time makeovers though,) he seems to think it’s something we’ll be doing yearly. And he’s now making a list of the themes he wants next. Haha! But it’s not, of course!

I personally enjoy doing it a lot and it’s a way for me to have a creative outlet but I want this room to be something that will last him for a longer time. In fact, we plan to have Dylan share this room with him in a year or so and hope that by that time, Dylan will be super down with Avengers as well!

We’ve begun training our little Wakandan, as you can see… 😉
