Why We Still Go to “Ready Steady Go” Even After 2 Years

Ready Steady Go 4-min

Jump over the hurdle! Walk like a crab! Kick the ball! Hit it with a bat!

It’s been almost 2 years since Luke has been enrolled at Ready Steady Go. Find out why we still keep going and why we love it!

Ready Steady Go Kids

Ready Steady Go is Australia’s leading preschool sport and exercise program. Their multi-sport activities teach preschoolers the fundamentals of different sports. This helps kids develop and enhance gross and fine motor skills in a fun, social, non-competitive and supportive environment.

Ready Steady Go offers classes in many different locations around the Philippines. We enrolled at the venue closest to our home (which is just 5-10 minutes away by car!)

Growing Up with RSG Kids Philippines

We first learned about Ready Steady Go Kids because there was a group that holds classes every week for all homeschooled kids. Luke was then 2.5 and not enrolled in any other activities at that time (we never did playschool for him,) so we thought, why not?

And we haven’t stopped since.

As I was gathering photos for this post, I couldn’t help but be amazed at how time really just flew by. When we started, I had to join the classes with him because he didn’t want to be left alone with just the other kids (as can be seen in the photo above!)

But now, he would excitedly join the group once the coach calls them! So proud at how he has grown and thankful to Ready Steady Go for helping him come out of his shell.

Anyway, I’m getting ahead of myself! There’s really so many things I love about Ready Steady Go. But today I’m sharing with you my personal top 3 reasons why we’re still with them even after almost 2 years! Here goes:

1. Kids get to try different sports

The Ready Steady Go programme covers the fundamentals of 10 different sports with 5 sports being covered each term. Since we’ve been with them for a while, Luke has been able to try his hand at I think most, if not all, of them!

Here’s Luke trying out T-Ball when he was younger (and chubbier!) I love that through Ready Steady Go, he has tried hitting a ball with a bat, shooting hoops, kicking and so much more!

And because kids are grouped by age, the activities are also age-appropriate. So even though for example, Luke has already done basketball with RSG before when he was younger, the basketball activities now that he’s 4 is different from what he has done before. There’s always something new to learn!

2. The coaches are great with kids

Luke loves his coaches at Ready Steady Go and I’m not surprised! His coaches so far have all been wonderful. Aside from being great at teaching, they are also very friendly and patient towards the kids and you can really tell that they love children! They share jokes and funny banters with the kids during sessions and it’s always fun to watch.

CHUBBY LUKE last year with his coaches. And bonus: this is also where Luke met one of his best friends, Brice! :)

I recently found out that the coaches at Ready Steady Go have (as a minimum) a Level 1 Coaching qualification under the National Coaching Accreditation Scheme from the Australian Sports Commission. Also, one of the trainers at every lesson is also trained in First Aid for preschoolers!

Now that is amazing!

3. Encourages kids to be active in a fun way

It’s not just the “sport of the day” that’s fun, even the warm-ups are fun! Look at all those happy faces as they try to jump like kangaroos! 😀

Here’s a photo from last year where Luke and his classmates are all pretending to drive a car using hoops. Haha. So cute.

At the end of every session, there’s an obstacle course. And if you ask Luke what his favorite part of each session is, this is it!

Being competitive by nature, Luke takes this obstacle course seriously. Haha! As for me, I’m always amazed to see him remember all the instructions in order to complete the course. That’s actually really good cognitive training!

I’ve tried many different classes for Luke but we only continued with those that I felt really helps him and Ready Steady Go is obviously one of those. If you’re interested to see if it will work for your child, you can inquire for a free trial first to see. That’s what I initially did during our first time.

But if you’re sure and would like to proceed, you may enroll with them here! You may also visit their Facebook page for more info.
