Are you traveling to Singapore with kids? We stayed at the Orchard Rendezvous Hotel on our latest trip to Singapore. Find out why it was perfect for our little family and decide if it’s perfect for yours as well!
Orchard Rendezvous Hotel
Orchard Rendezvous Hotel is a 4-star hotel located at Tanglin Road, at the end of Orchard Road.
Getting There
A shuttle service from Changi airport to the hotel was included in our booking. However, we were informed that we would have to wait for 20 minutes for the bus and that the ride would take approximately 1 hour since they were going to stop at different downtown hotels.
Since we were traveling with kids, we knew long rides would not be ideal for them so we decided to take a taxi instead. Our taxi ride cost us $25 SGD.
Family Suite
Our traveling party consists of 3 adults (we brought yaya with us,) a child and a baby. We booked the Family Room but was surprisingly upgraded to a Family Suite upon check-in. And the moment we stepped in, we knew the room was perfect for us! It was HUGE; 60 sqm big, to be exact.
The room had 2 single beds and 1 King bed. You can fit 3 in the King bed actually and that’s what we did (the third being our 7-month old baby Dylan haha!)
And also, I love that there’s a partition in the other bed because it served as a barrier to keep Luke from falling off his bed on that side. Hehe.
For the baby, as I mentioned, he slept with me in this big bed. We actually requested for a crib, which they were able to provide but ended up not using it because Dylan was unusually clingy and would always want to be near my side.
Family Suite: Dining and Living Area
One of the nicer features of our super big room was that there was both a dining and living area.
Whenever we travel with the kids, they are usually tired by dinner time. So it’s not unusual that we end up eating at the hotel (happened in Taiwan with Luke!) And true enough, during this Singapore trip, we ended up having dinner here for 2 nights straight! Haha.
Extra convenient! The first time was when we brought home McDonald’s take-out after an entire day at Gardens by the Bay. And the second time was we bought food from the Chinese restaurant at the hotel lobby because I got feverish and could no longer go out to eat. Huhu.
Bathroom
Bathroom was clean and simple with two sinks, a bathtub and a shower. The bathtub was perfect for giving the kids a bath.
Welcome Kit for the Kids!
Surprise! We received these Bizzie Boxes for the kids and their own toothbrush kits! So cute! It’s always nice when hotels remember the little ones as well and provide them with amenities.
Of course, the coloring materials were really for Luke but Dylan also wanted to get in the action (much to Luke’s dismay!) Hehe.
This was Luke right before bedtime when he was arguing with me as to why he had to sleep. He said he still had some coloring sheets to finish. 😐 Haha.
Breakfast Buffet at Modesto
Every morning, we were treated to a good selection at breakfast. They had the usual favorites like bacon, eggs, beans and pastries.
My favorite was the kaya spread, which I took with the bread. Yum!
TIP: Have lunch really early OR a little later (like 9am) because the restaurant can get full. On our first morning, we had to sit at the outdoor seating area because there were no more seats inside. But we noticed that the tables begin to empty at around 9am!
Location:
One of the best things about this hotel is that it’s located at Orchard Road. It is within walking distance to famous shopping malls in the area.
We ventured out on our first night to Ion Orchard Mall, which was roughly a 10 minute walk, to eat at Putien (so good and worth the splurge if you have the budget!) Yep, we brought with us the two boys and it was no problem; carrier, stroller and all! 😉
Overall:
If you’re looking for a hotel to fit a family with multiple kids or a hotel that allows you and your friends can share a room together, Orchard Rendezvous Hotel is the perfect hotel for you!
It has a great location and that allows you to explore Orchard Road easily, without having to hail a cab even!
Overall, we had a great time. If we were traveling with a big party again the next time we visit in Singapore, you know where to find us! Visit their website to learn more and check out the other rooms they have available. Heads up: They even have bunk beds for those with bigger kids!
